CRAFT: Gota work is a distinct form of metal embroidery from Rajasthan. A silver or golden lace that is woven with cotton warp and metal weft is called Gota. The art of cutting and folding gota lace into various shapes and applying it on fabric surface formulating exotic patterns is referred to as gota work. It is also known as gota-kinari or lappe-ka-kaam. Lengths of gota tapes are used as basic trims to create dramatic effect on the garment. Gota work adds richness and sheen to any textile.
